Rape and rape oil

Rape oil, alongside with sunflower, soya and peanut oil, is one of the most consumed in the world vegetable oil. Unfortunately, in Russia, rape oil had not received such wide circulation. In fact, the fat-acid structure of rape oil is same as olive. But it is much cheaper.

Olive rape seeds are known in Europe for a long time. In 16-th century it was cultivated in Belgium and Holland, then it was extended to Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Russia. Rape is also cultivated in India, China and Japan. After the Second World War it covered great areas in Canada. The first crops of this culture - for economic needs - have appeared in Canada. Local farmers noticed, that rape seeds grew perfectly in prairies and were steady against weather fluctuations. Originally, the main part of raw material was a forage for cattle, but later, the appeared hybrids, which contain more oil, began to be used as raw material for manufacture of vegetable oil. Researches of a chemical compound of rape were an incitement for distribution of rape as olive culture. First advantage of rape was its similarity to an olive oil, and the second advantage was an exclusive set of fat acids, that are irreplaceable for heart. Rape oil is the FIRST and the most optimum sort of oil for the people who had a heart attack.

Rape oil is also used in various leading industries:

- In reception of "biodiesel". The biodiesel is a biological diesel fuel; it is the ethers of fat acids. This fuel is a result of etherification. Rape oil is usually used in this process.

- For manufacturing of lubricants. In order to preserve the environment, rape oil is widely applied in manufacture of lubricants, especially lubricants for hydraulic systems. Chemistry-physical properties of rape oil make this oil suitable for producing additives for oil. It is necessary to note, that the use of lubricants based on mineral oil in different branches in the developed countries is hardly limited, especially in a sailing charter, agricultural machinery and in the industrial equipment in the food-processing industry.

- For manufacturing of rubber mixes. For example, Finnish company Nokian, which produces tires Hakkapeliitta 4. The rubber mix of a protector of this tire basically consists of ecologically-pure rape oil. Such application of rape oil helps to increase the coupling on winter and wet roads, and wear resistance.
